Perris, Riverside County
Perris is named for Fred T. Perris, chief engineer of the California Southern Railroad, which laid tracks through the valley in the 1880s. The brick depot of 1892 still stands downtown. On the south side of the city, the Southern California Railway Museum runs restored streetcars and trains on its own tracks, including the red cars that once served Los Angeles.
